Erin Lin
Eric Chuang

HaWay – the vice organizer of WordCamp Taipei 2018
Since I became a volunteer of WordCamp Taipei 2018, everything has been going well! When I faced website problems, there are website experts to help me solve them. When I had questions about marketing, marketing specialists could give me suggests. When I encountered an information security problem, people in WordPress meetup could deal with it. I could contact strategy consultant if I want to sell products. I could ask people to recommend the WordPress themes or plugins. I could learn eCommerce. I could easily find translators, engineers and designers. It’s all because I became a volunteer of WordCamp!
Erin Lin – speakers team volunteer
It’s very exciting that I could get the chance to have video con-calls with WordPress mentors and the partners from WordPress Central. It made me feel like we’re living together in a global village. Although we spoke in different languages, and not everyone spoke proficient English, but we still could find a way to communicate with each other. It’ 21st century, even if you were not able to speak in a second language, you could utilize the technology to translate it!
I also made new friends with volunteers from speakers team. We talked and chatted a lot with each other, discussing about WordCamp, WordPress or even gossips and current events. On my WordPress learning journey, I never felt lonely because of these friends for company!
Eric Chuang – speakers team volunteer
The first-ever WordPress community I had joined in was Taipei WordPress meetup in November 2017. After several times attending the meetups, I learned about that there was an international WordPress event called WordCamp. Then I became the volunteer of WordCamp Taipei without hesitation due to the experiences and passion for event planning during my college life.
It’s not easy for people who had a full-time job also help organize the event. Although each volunteer joined in because of passion, there were many difficulties when communicating and collaborating with each other after we started planning the event. For example, deciding the meeting time or catching up the working schedule. My task to contact the speakers was behind schedule due to being buried with work.
However, I was grateful to have partners such as Yuli, Erin, HaWay and Chun, to remind me or even help me keep up with the schedule. The biggest reward in organizing WordCamp 2018 was that not only I could get in touch with global speakers but also make new friends with people from WordPress community and at the same time learn many kinds of industry experiences.
